A mechanism with a focus on equity and social inclusion
In an effort to promote inclusive conservation, Fundación Natura and the Panama Audubon Society officially launch the Conserva Aves Panama Call for Proposals dedicated to the Equity Fund. This financial mechanism seeks to break down historical barriers by prioritizing funding for: emerging organizations, women-led groups, Indigenous peoples, and Afro-descendant communities.
“The Equity Fund represents our commitment to environmental justice,” said Jorge Garzón, Coordinator of Conserva Aves Panama. “We prioritize proposals that demonstrate inclusive governance and a gender perspective.”
Selected projects may:
✅ Establish new municipal protected areas and private reserves
✅ Expand existing conserved territories
✅ Develop ICCAs (Indigenous and Community Conserved Areas)
Conserva Aves is a regional initiative led by American Bird Conservancy, National Audubon Society, BirdLife International, Birds Canada, and RedLAC. In Panama, it is implemented by Fundación Natura and the Panama Audubon Society, with the goal of strengthening climate resilience through the protection of key ecosystems.
