CLOSED: Call for applications for the Panama Equity Fund

This call aims to conserve threatened, endemic and migratory bird species in decline, and safeguard their key habitats in Panama, through the management, creation or extension of protected areas, especially municipal, Territories and Areas Conserved by Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (TICCA) and / or private reserves. This call seeks the creation or extension of protected areas with emphasis on municipal, ICCAs, and existing private reserves in priority areas for birds, including the design of management plans, bird monitoring and financial sustainability. CBOs interested in participating in this call of Conserva Aves Panama, as well as those NGOs wishing to apply in conjunction with a CBO to support them in their strengthening, are invited to participate in this call.

Components of the Call

Creation or extension of protected areas with emphasis on municipal, TICCAs, private reserves in priority areas for birds.

Design of a management instrument for a ten-year period as established by the Ministry of Environment.

Development of a bird monitoring plan to at least verifiably confirm the presence or absence of priority species annually and throughout the life of the project.

Design of a document that establishes the strategic lines and actions necessary to mobilize financial resources to achieve the objectives defined for the protected area in the management plan.
