This call aims to conserve threatened, endemic, and migratory bird species in decline and to safeguard their key habitats in Panama. This will be achieved through the management, creation, or extension of protected areas, especially municipal, territorial, and indigenous peoples and local community conserved areas (TICCAs), as well as private reserves. The call emphasizes the creation or consolidation of protected areas, particularly municipal and TICCAs, as well as existing private reserves, in areas that are important for birds. This includes designing management plans, monitoring birds, and ensuring financial sustainability.

The objective of this call is to establish or strengthen protected areas, particularly municipal, TICCAs, and private reserves, in areas that are important for birds. This includes designing management plans, monitoring birds, and ensuring financial sustainability.
The proposals submitted to this Call must consider that the selected projects must include the following: (a) Management plan: this call will co-finance projects that, in addition to the establishment, recognition, or expansion of a protected area, include the design of a management or management instrument for a ten-year period. b) Bird monitoring plan: projects financed under this call must include a bird monitoring plan that allows at least verifiable confirmation of the presence or absence of priority species annually and during the life of the project. c) Financial sustainability plan: this call will co-finance projects that, in addition to the establishment, recognition, or expansion of a protected area, include the design of a document that establishes the strategic lines and actions necessary to mobilize financial resources to meet the objectives defined for the protected area in the management plan.
