An agreement signed between Fundación Cosmos and Fondo Naturaleza Chile is advancing the implementation of Conserva Aves in Chile. The partnership aims to protect wetlands and migratory routes, strengthen the management of natural areas, and promote community participation to ensure effective biodiversity conservation.
Fundación Cosmos
In the context of the World Wetlands Day celebration, organized by Fundación Cosmos at the Santuario de la Naturaleza Humedal Río Maipo, a collaboration agreement was signed between Fondo Naturaleza Chile and Fundación Cosmos. This milestone marks a new step in the arrival of the hemispheric conservation initiative Conserva Aves to Chile, with the goal of protecting bird migratory corridors.
The implementation of Conserva Aves in Chile seeks to bring together efforts to strengthen the management of natural areas, generate benefits for local communities, and contribute to global conservation targets. Its model integrates scientific knowledge with local expertise, incorporating community engagement as an essential component of effective conservation.
The agreement signed between Fundación Cosmos and Fondo Naturaleza Chile enables joint progress toward Conserva Aves’ objectives in Chile, strengthening the protection of wetlands and key migratory corridors for birds and the communities that depend on these ecosystems.

The activity, held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, aimed to highlight the ecosystem of the Maipo River estuary — comprising the nature sanctuary, the Ojos de Mar de Llolleo urban wetland, and the corridor that connects them — as a natural, social, and cultural heritage site for the San Antonio province. This territory plays a key role in addressing climate change impacts, safeguarding biodiversity, and directly supporting community well-being and resilience.
The event brought together local and regional authorities, public agencies, environmental organizations, and residents from the Río Maipo wetland area.
